Netflix, Sega of America, and WildBrain have announced that a new 3D animated series titled Sonic Prime. The new series will premiere worldwide in 2022.
The next adventure of the Blue Blur will take place in a 24-episode animation geared towards kids and longtime fans. This time around, the fate of a strange new multiverse will rest in Sonic’s gloved hands. The press release also mentions something about the series being a journey of “self-discovery and redemption” for Sonic.
WildBrain’s Vancouver studio will be in charge of animating Sonic Prime. Meanwhile, Sega and WildBrain will work together on production, distribution, and licensing. Man of Action Entertainment, the guys behind Ben 10 and Big Hero 6 have also been brought on as showrunners and Executive Producers.
